ESG Regulation for Capital Markets

Capital Markets Authority (Kenya)

ESG Regulatory Frameworks & Market Disclosure Infrastructure

As ESG disclosure expectations grow, capital markets regulators must establish consistent reporting baselines while supporting market-wide adoption. This particular engagement responded to the evolving ESG disclosure landscape in Kenya’s capital markets, with a focus on structured and comparable reporting across issuers and market participants.

Lybra supported the Capital Markets Authority in undertaking a comprehensive assessment of ESG practices across the Kenyan capital markets.

The output informed the development of ESG reporting guidelines and a structured reporting manual designed to standardise disclosure practices across regulated entities.

The assignment also included capacity building support to enhance institutional readiness for ESG regulatory implementation and supervisory enforcement.

This work contributes to the strengthening of ESG disclosure infrastructure within Kenya’s capital markets regulatory system.
